Welcome to the Playbook!
It’s time for another week of the Tri-Valley Prep Playbook, your inside source for all things sports when it comes to the East Bay Athletic League!
I’ve been covering the EBAL since 1985 and know the coaches, players, parents, and athletic staff at all the schools, giving me the inside scoop on what is happening behind the scenes! Join me each week for some honest feelings about the good, the bad, and the ugly side of high school athletics!
The Big Picture looks at the first week of NCS volleyball; gives you NCS swimming and diving highlights; sets the EBAL playoffs for baseball and softball; brings you the EBAL golf results, as well as the EBAL track and field highlights! And who knows, there may be other results thrown in as well!
The EBAL Power Rankings has some movement in the EBAL baseball ranking in spots 3-5, as well as in softball. The volleyball rankings are almost done for the season as there are only two teams alive in NCS.
What to Watch gives you the schedule for the NCS volleyball and lacrosse playoffs, as well as the EBAL playoffs schedules in baseball and softball.

Tri-Valley teams deep in playoff pushes across all spring sports
As we rapidly approach the end of the school year, we are now seeing every spring sport enter the postseason as baseball and softball face the EBAL playoffs this week…

Power Rankings as of May 6.
EBAL BASEBALL
1) Granada (23-1, 12-1): The Matadors make it seven wins in a row with the sweep of Livermore to end the regular season. Currently the No. 5 team in California.
2) De La Salle (17-5, 11-2): A non-league loss to Elk Grove was the lone blemish for the Spartans last week as they went 3-1, sweeping California to end the regular season.
3) San Ramon Valley (14-9, 9-4): Splits with Monte Vista to end the regular season but is still the No. 3 EBAL team.
4) Foothill (13-11, 7-6): Swept Amador Valley to end the regular season and finish with a winning record in EBAL play.
5) Livermore (13-11, 5-8): The Cowboys are swept by Granada to end the regular season but stay above .500 in their overall record.
Others: Amador Valley (10-14, 5-8), Dublin (10-13, 5-8), Monte Vista (14-10, 5-8), California (11-13, 3-10), Dougherty Valley (7-16, 3-10).
