The San Ramon Valley Unified School District’s Board of Education is set Tuesday to weigh a recommendation from district staff that would see the return of longtime district administrator Danny Hillman.

Hillman departed SRVUSD in September 2022 for a role as assistant superintendent of business services at the Fremont Unified School District, following more than a decade in administrative roles in the San Ramon Valley, including a stint as its chief business officer starting December 2021.

“The District has identified the need to hire an Assistant Superintendent of Business Services to lead and oversee all levels of staff and operations of District programs related to budget, transportation, child nutrition, technology, and facilities,” SRVUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack wrote in a staff report prepared for the upcoming meeting.

“Staff is recommending the appointment of a candidate that has over three years of experience in similar positions across multiple districts, experience in multiple roles within SRVUSD, ranging from classroom teacher to High School Principal, Director of Facilities, and Assistant Superintendent – Chief Business Official,” Cammack added

During his time in Fremont, Hillman worked alongside current SRVUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack, who himself returned to the district at the start of the current school year following the departure of former superintendent John Malloy.

Following Hillman’s departure, Stella Kemp was appointed as the district’s chief business officer.

If the board votes to approve the appointment recommended by Cammack and district staff at the upcoming meeting, Cammack and Hillman will both have the same titles they held in Fremont during the previous school year.

The SRVUSD board is set to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 15).
