The San Ramon City Council is poised to hear a presentation from staff Tuesday on what has been dubbed a “Financial Resilience Framework” as the city continues grappling with its budget struggles and seeks to reduce spending.

The grim financial outlook that emerged last year led to a round of sizable cuts to city services and a sales tax increase that was approved by voters – with more measures still necessary to balance the city’s budget.

Those additional measures are set to be discussed in this week’s presentation from finance director Jennifer Wakeman, who was appointed earlier this year to the newly created role. The position heading the city’s finance department was created when it was shifted to be its own department last year, with finance having previously been a division under the administrative services department.

Wakeman is set to introduce the new framework as part of a light agenda at the next City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28). The agenda is available here.
