A former health technician at the now-shuttered federal women’s prison in Dublin was sentenced Friday to 52 months behind bars for sexually abusing an inmate and lying to investigators, prosecutors said.

Jeffrey Wilson, 34, of Eureka, pleaded guilty in August to five counts of sexual abuse of a ward and one count of making a false statement to federal agents, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern California.

Wilson was a correctional officer at the Federal Correction Institution in Dublin from July 2021 to September 2022, where he served as a health technician/paramedic, prosecutors said in a press release.

“In that role, he was responsible for providing emergency assessment and medical care to the female inmates,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. “Around August 2021, he began interacting with a victim inmate after she began taking medication prescribed to her for seizures.”

Wilson admitted to multiple sexual acts with the victim, according to prosectors. He also gave her a pre-paid credit card and a cellphone that she used to take naked pictures of herself and send them to Wilson.

When he was interviewed by special agents from the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General, Wilson denied having sexual contact with the woman and said he never gave her contraband.

Wilson is the ninth correctional officer to have either pleaded guilty or been convicted at trial as part of an ongoing federal investigation into sexual abuse of inmates at FCI Dublin. FCI Dublin was closed in 2024.
