The members of the Danville Town Council will begin conducting interviews this week to fill the seat left vacant by the recent death of Councilman Mike Shimansky.
City Clerk Marie Sunseri confirmed that 10 Danville residents had filed applications for the position. They include:

Marianne Bordogna
Paul Cowell
Mark Curtis
Gordon Dakin
Peter Fagrey
Stacey Howard
Michael Murray
Robert Nichols
Robert Storer
Town Council will hold interviews with the candidates on two days. The first session will be Oct. 6, the second Oct. 12.
After the interviews are held, the Town Council will make its selection at a special meeting at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13. The newly chosen council member will be sworn in and will begin serving at the council’s regularly scheduled meeting Oct. 20.
That would be City Clerk Marie “Sunseri”
Mark Curtis is clearly the best person for this position. He is a long time Danville resident, is a nationally recognized expert in government and political issues, has constantly done volunteer activities for our community, and is bipartisian, and would work well with all the existing members to achieve bipartisian goals for our town. He is also a friend of the late Mike Shimansky, and it would be a fitting tribute to Mr. Shimansky and his family to appoint Mr. Curtis.
