Bats, snakes, spiders, owls and other spooky creatures are on display at the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek this week to help the public gain a better understanding of these often-feared animals and their relationship with the environment.
The museum’s “Not-So-Scary Animals for Halloween” program, which runs through Thursday, consists of a series of family-friendly presentations that allow attendees to meet live animals, learn about them and talk to their keepers.
Presentations feature nocturnal animals such as owls and bats, “creepy crawlies” including spiders, cockroaches and snakes, and animal myth-busting.
The program is part of the 10-day Bay Area Science Festival, a public education initiative in which top scientific, academic, corporate and
non-profit organizations team up to promote the region as a hotbed of innovation, according to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum.
The presentations are being offered at the museum, located at 1931 First St., from noon to 4 p.m. today and on Halloween.
