Three San Ramon Valley students have been chosen as the finalists for the San Ramon Valley Exchange Club’s 2014 Scholarship Essay Contest.
The winner, Dougherty Valley High School senior Jayendra Jog, will have his $5,000 prize sent to the college of his choice after the club receives his letter of acceptance.
The two runners-up, Venture School junior Alexandra Farly and California High sophomore Luke Campopiano, will receive a cash token of appreciation.
The subject of this year’s contest was “The War Powers Acts: 1941, 1942, 1973; Are these acts Constitutional or Unconstitutional?” Students argued both sides.
After judges chose the three finalists, they were interviewed about the content of their essay. Based on the finalists’ interviews, the judges chose a winner.
All three finalists were honored last week at Faz Restaurant in Danville and received a certificate of recognition.
