The “warm and expressive” musical stylings of Brass Over Bridges is coming to the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore this weekend as part of the 46th season of performances for Del Valle Fine Arts.
The Bay Area quintet is “committed to traditional brass repertoire, forging new musical paths and connecting with diverse audiences … Their wide-ranging program bridges music from the Italian Renaissance to Jazz to Leonard Bernstein’s Broadway ‘West Side Story’ to a ‘San Francisco Pastorale’,” DVFA reps said.
The award-winning group features trumpet player and composer Ari Micich, Joseph Brown on trumpet, Erika Miras on French horn, Esther Armendariz on trombone and Will Baker playing bass trombone.
“Beyond performances, Brass Over Bridges is passionate about supporting students and music education,” DVFA reps said. “From collegiate-level masterclasses to performances for middle school students, the ensemble designs programs to educate and inspire young musicians at all levels.”
The concert is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 15) at the Bankhead. Free admission for students under 18 years old. A complimentary reception will follow the show. For more information, go to delvallefinearts.org.
