Three of the youngest authors in the Tri-Valley will be reading from their original picture books and engaging with residents at a special event next week at the Dublin Public Library.
“Evening Stories” at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 4) will feature 6-year-old Dublin writers Ayansh Maheshwari, Miraya Bajad and Aarna, who publishes only under her first name.
“I like making up fun stories and seeing my ideas turn into real books,” Maheshwari told the Pleasanton Weekly. “My favorite part is sharing them with other kids. I’m super excited to read at the library and see everyone having fun at storytime!”
Maheshwari has published two books – “Tag! You’re It!” and “Hungry Pig’s Adventures” – under his mom’s firm, The Sapling Press. The works are described as “fun, imaginative picture books full of playful friendship, bright storytelling and lighthearted humor that young children instantly connect with”.
Aarna’s book “celebrating kindness, teamwork and how helping friends makes every day better” is entitled, “Aarna and the Helpful Friends”, and Bajad’s book “Sia, Mira, and the Sticky Honey Surprise” tells of a “sunny picnic that leads to a garden full of bees, a sticky honey situation, and learning how to find fun and laughter in every situation”.
“Watching young children step into the role of published authors has been deeply moving and inspiring,” said Prachi Sharma, of The Sapling Press. “At this age, their imagination is completely uninhibited. Seeing them realize that their ideas, words, and creative visions can turn into real books sitting on a shelf — and that their voices matter — builds a level of confidence and joy that is truly priceless.”
The trio’s hour-long interactive presentation is set to take place in the picture book area of the library at 200 Civic Plaza. It is wheelchair accessible, and American Sign Language interpretation can be available with an advanced request through the library.
