Big Lots! in Livermore is shutting down, much to the surprise and disappointment of shoppers.
Closure of the store on 4484 Las Positas Road follows in the footsteps of the discount retailer’s Dublin location, which shut its door in January 2023.
As the last Big Lots! in the Tri-Valley, the company’s exit from Livermore means the next closest location is about 19 miles east in Tracy.
“It’s kind of a shock actually,” customer Venky Thammadaboina said on Tuesday. “I never thought it would get closed.”
The location’s impending closure is advertised on the Big Lots! website and by countless signs inside and outside the building that read “Store Closing: this location only”, “Nothing Held Back” and “Entire Store Up to 20% off.” No final date was advertised at the store.
“It’s a great option for low prices, so it’s a bummer to lose a discount store,” Bonnie Iglesias said.
Once the Livermore location shuts down, she and another shopper named Lisa Sallia said they are likely to move on to other retailers like Walmart and Dollar Tree.
Representatives of Big Lots! did not respond for comment on the store’s closure as of Wednesday morning.
