The Danville Town Council is set to hold its annual planning and goal-setting workshop Friday morning, which is set to extend through the afternoon.
The meeting will include presentations on highlights and outcomes of town activities in 2024, a mid-year operating budget and Capital Improvement Program updates, the annual council/commission workshop, and updates on business, commission, and code enforcement.
“There are several issues that are expected to warrant in depth discussion and feedback from the Town Council,” Town Manager Joe Calabrigo said in a memo prepared for the upcoming meeting.
That includes the annual review and discussion of the Town Council guidelines, which “establish parameters that would be used to assist you in conducting your business, your interactions with one another, the public and the Town staff,” according to a staff report from Calabrigo.
“As you reflect back over the past year, consider whether and how the guidelines may have come into play, and whether or not you believe that you and the Council are continuing to operate in keeping with the guidelines,” Calabrigo wrote. “Please give this some thought and be prepared to consider how each of you can contribute to and support effective communication and collaboration as a way of maximizing your benefit to the community that you serve.”
Also up for discussion is a proposed two-year implementation plan aimed at providing a definitive plan for completing the town’s immediate goals in the near future amid a series of challenges.
“Recently, the Town has experienced higher-than-usual staff turnover due to retirements and transitions, coupled with increasingly constrained resources highlighted in the Mid-Year Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Updates,” Calabrigo wrote.
“Additionally, an influx of new residents and Commissioners who may be unfamiliar with Danville’s service delivery approach underscores the need for a clear annual framework that communicates the Town’s priorities and its resulting financial and staffing resource allocation,” he continued.
The Danville Town Council is set to meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Oak Hill Park Community Center at 3005 Stone Valley Rd. The agenda is available here.
