The San Ramon City Council is set to hold a public hearing tonight on proposed changes to the fee schedule for the city’s municipal services, which would increase a number of fees for city services at the rate of inflation.

City staff is recommending a 2.82% increase in fees across a number of city services, including marriage and business licensing, zoning review and building permits, tree removal permits, and sign permits.

The changes are being proposed in alignment with the results of a nexus fee study, which municipalities are required to conduct and review every eight years under state law, some of which would require changes to the city’s existing legislation.

“During the review of the proposed fees, it was determined to be necessary to amendcertain Sections of the Municipal Code for consistency,” staff from the city’s planning department wrote in a report for the upcoming meeting.

City staff is recommending changes to the city’s municipal code in order to update childcare fees, impact fees for parks and recreation, public art, and open space, and inclusionary and affordable housing fees.

City staff is recommending that the council hold public hearings on both items and bring them back for a vote at the March 24 meeting.

The San Ramon City Council is set to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday (March 10). The agenda is available here.
