ADU rebate program
The Town of Danville is among 15 East Bay communities that have been allocated funds to support a rebate program for the construction of accessory dwelling units as part of the ADU Accelerator Program led by State Senator Steve Glazer (D-Orinda).
The town is now set to provide a total of $79,500 to participating residents as rebates of up to $7,5000 for building ADUs that are 1,000 square feet or less on a first-come, first-served basis, according to an announcement from officials Monday, the same day applications for the program opened.
Those who build units that are deed-restricted to low-income households for at least 20 years can receive up to double the grant for standard units – $15,000.
“The Senate District 7 ADU Accelerator Program reflects a broader effort across California to tackle the housing shortage, making it easier for homeowners to contribute to increasing the region’s housing supply while promoting affordable housing options for lower-income residents,” town officials said in Monday’s announcement. Applications are available here.
