‘Howl-O-Ween’
Community members and their four-legged friends are invited to don costumes and take to City Center Bishop Ranch this weekend for a “Howl-O-Ween” celebration and pet parade.
The event is set to start with training exercises and information from pet trainers at The Hub by Pack Animals on Sunday ahead of the main event at 2 p.m. – the costumed pet parade through Alexander Square. More information is available here.
Alamo tree work
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department has announced a tree trimming and removal operation in Alamo being conducted by contractors with the county, which kicked off Tuesday and is set to continue through Nov. 21.
“This work will improve public safety and tree health along Danville Boulevard by removing dead trees and trimming live trees that present a hazard to the public. Traffic control will be used. Drivers should expect 5–10-minute delays,” public works officials said in the announcement on Oct. 17.
The project area is along Danville Boulevard between Rudgear Road and Hillgrade Avenue.
Work is set to occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays for the duration of the project.
Bollinger Canyon road closure
The City of San Ramon has alerted residents to a planned full closure of Bollinger Canyon Road between Market Place and Camino Ramon from Nov. 6-9.
“This roadway closure is required to conduct a critical phase of construction on the Iron Horse Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing, where precast concrete deck panels will be set into the Overcrossing framework,” city officials said in Thursday’s announcement. “Once this work is complete, the public will see the full Overcrossing base structure. However, the Overcrossing will not be fully completed or open until Summer 2025.”
Drivers are set to be directed around the construction area via detours in place during the closure. The Marketplace Shopping Center and City Hall will continue to be open and accessible from westbound Bollinger Canyon Road. Pedestrians and bicyclists will continue to have access to an existing detour along the roadway.
Lounge space at Bishop Ranch
The latest permanent addition to City Center Bishop Ranch is a 15,000-square-foot public lounge space that is set to be the first in a series of Flourish spaces, which will include a full-service restaurant.
In addition to serving as a lounge option, the space includes office space extensions, conference rooms, more than 50 workspaces, and wellness options consisting of a fitness center, pilates studio, and full-time physical therapist.
“These Lounges are designed to support not only our tenants but also the surrounding community,” said Alex Mehran Jr., president and CEO of Sunset Development Company, in an announcement on Oct. 15. “With the Lounge Collection, we aim to offer strategic workplace designs that reflect the modern office’s purpose—career development, knowledge exchange, full-service hospitality, wellness, innovation, onboarding and fostering connections and cultural alignment. These Lounges serve as an extension of your work environment, no matter where your office is located.”
The space is currently open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with extended hours into the evening set to be unrolled in the coming weeks.

AP Honor Roll recognition of SRVUSD schools
All four high schools in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District have been recognized in the AP School Honor Roll list for the past academic year in what district officials call “a testament to the district’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and college readiness.”
The program was launched last year with the aim of recognizing schools with successful Advanced Placement programs that aim to aid high-achieving students in getting college credit for their work.
“Our high schools have continuously set the bar high for academic achievement, and these AP School Honor Roll recognitions reflect our commitment to excellence,” SRVUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack said in an announcement from the district Tuesday. “I want to acknowledge our students for their diligence and determination as well as our staff and administration at every grade level — from elementary through high school — for laying the framework and preparing students for success in college and career. I am incredibly proud that our high schools have been acknowledged for both their excellence in AP and their efforts to increase access to these opportunities for more students.”
Kindergarten enrollment
Enrollment for TK and kindergarten programs in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District is set to open on Nov. 1 for incoming students in the 2025 to 2026 academic year, with the district urging parents to complete the enrollment process by Nov. 30.
“We look forward to enrolling Kindergarten and TK students this November and welcoming them to our schools next year. Research shows the importance of the first five years in shaping a child’s physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development,” SRVUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack said in an announcement on Oct. 9. “With the expansion of TK in California, all four year olds will have the opportunity to attend, removing the financial burden of preschool for families.”
The upcoming school year will be the first in which TK programs are open to all students who turn 4-years-old by Sept. 1, following an expansion of the programs starting with the 2022 to 2023 academic year as required by the state.
TK – or transitional kindergarten – is a two-year kindergarten program aimed at providing students the basics of language, literacy, pre-math, and social and emotional learning in preparation for their academic careers through grade school.
