Bollinger Canyon road work

One lane of traffic will be closed on Bollinger Canyon Road near Alcosta Boulevard on Feb. 1 for utilities work. (Image courtesy City of San Ramon)

Drivers are advised to travel with caution and expect delays on Bollinger Canyon Road near its intersection with Alcosta Boulevard on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., during which the number three lane will be closed for utility work according to an announcement from the city.

San Ramon finance director job

Valentine’s Day Shopping and standup in Danville

The Town of Danville is seeking to encourage residents and visitors to do their Valentine’s Day shopping with the launch of a “Something Special for Someone Special” campaign on Feb. 1 aimed at showcasing the town’s shopping, dining, and “memory-making activities” through Feb. 16.

Downtown Danville is also being presented as a potential date night destination on Feb. 14 with the live standup comedy show “Laughter is in the Air” at the Village Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets and more information are available here. 

Sunrise Ridge playground update

City officials are now estimating that work on the recently installed playground at Sunrise Ridge Park will be complete by Feb. 7 after safety concerns that led to a temporary closure are addressed.

The closure came following a visit from field staff who noticed two potential hazards on the play structures, with improvements aimed at mitigating those hazards now underway.

“The City thanks the community for its patience,” Communications Analyst Simone Finney said.

‘New Science of Adolescence’

Local youth mental health support nonprofit Alan Hu Foundation is hosting a webinar with Laurence Steinberg, Ph.D., next Tuesday (Feb. 4) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on the theme “Age of Opportunity: Lessons from the New Science of Adolescence”.

Organizers said Steinberg’s lecture “will discuss the teenage brain’s potential for change, the elongation of adolescence as a developmental stage, and the implications of each for how we parent, educate, and understand young people.” Register at alanhufoundation.org. 

Additionally, the foundation is set to be the beneficiary of a concert on Saturday (Feb. 1) starring award-winning Pleasanton teen pianist Celicia Thendean at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 3999 Bernal Ave.
