Drivers in Danville are advised to expect delays and navigate the town’s roads with caution, with road closures scheduled between the school at 501 Danville Blvd. and Prospect Avenue to accommodate the homecoming parade between 2:50 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 26).

The Wolves’ homecoming game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Friday.

Event Innovator celebration

Discover San Ramon and city officials celebrated the winners of its first-ever Event Innovator competition at this week’s City Council meeting on Sept. 23 after the winning teams were announced last month.

“Participating in the Discover San Ramon Event Innovator Competition has been an incredible experience,” said Dougherty Valley High School student Shiven Balaji, who was the only solo winner of the competition for his lantern and drones “festival of lights” idea.

“The process gave me the opportunity to explore multiple parks and facilities in San Ramon and truly appreciate all the city has to offer,” he continued. “The coordinators were responsive and supportive, which made the experience even better.”

The competition was launched this year by Discover San Ramon with the goal of generating and supporting ideas from students about fresh ways to celebrate the city and bring the local community together.

“San Ramon is a city built on the energy, engagement, and creativity of its people — especially our youth,” Mayor Mark Armstrong said. “This competition demonstrates how next-generation leaders can help us create events that reflect who we are, bring us together, and make our city stronger.”

SRVUSD special meeting

The SRVUSD Board of Education was set to continue negotiations with developer Bates Stringer about price and terms of payment regarding the site of the district’s headquarters at 699 Old Orchard Road in Danville at a special meeting Friday morning.

The topic was discussed previously in a closed session ahead of the school board’s public meeting on Sept. 16. No further information was reported out of closed session at that time.

According to the agenda for Friday’s meeting, the board is not set to return to open session after the closed meeting.

While Friday’s discussion is set to focus on the price and terms of payment for 699 Old Orchard Rd., the board’s closed session last week also included discussions with Sunset Development on price and terms of payment for at 2600 Camino Ramon, the site of the Roundhouse Conference Center in Bishop Ranch.
