Open Heart Kitchen is poised to present its annual fundraising event in September to support its community programming for hunger relief and housing.

This year’s Heart of the Tri-Valley Gala is a 1970s-inspired occasion, set to include a cocktail reception, dinner, live music, dancing, raffles, live auction and “Fund-A-Need” paddle raise.

As the largest nonprofit provider of free meals and food assistance in the Tri-Valley, OHK served a total of nearly 1 million meals last year through its community meals, senior nutrition services, shelter meals and the Open Heart Food Bank.

“This is our biggest fundraising event of the year and a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate the impact we’re making, and invest in a future where no one goes hungry,” OHK Executive Director John Bost said in a statement.

Through the gala paddle raise, OHK aims to raise $480,000, according to Bost.

The gala is scheduled for Sept. 11 at the Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery in Pleasanton. Tickets and information on sponsoring the event are available on the OHK website at openheartkitchen.org.
