New Danville e-bike regulations
Danville’s new e-bike ordinance that was passed by the town last month is now in effect, with sign installation and public outreach efforts also underway.
“The Danville Town Council adopted the ordinance in July to help ensure Town parks remain safe, comfortable spaces where people of all ages can walk, play, gather, and enjoy recreation,” town officials wrote in a press release Thursday.
As of Thursday, visitors to town parks are no longer permitted to ride e-bikes or motorized scooters, although the vehicles are allowed on park sites if the rider has dismounted and is walking them.

Back to school for SRVUSD
San Ramon Valley students are set to return to school next week, with Thursday marking the first day of the 2026 to 2027 academic year.
Voting Rights Day of Action
The League of Women Voters of the Diablo Valley is among the three groups gearing up for the Unite and Rise for Voting Rights Day of Action in Walnut Creek this weekend.
The local event is set to be one of hundreds throughout the country organized by fellow League of Women Voters chapters and partner organizations, marking the anniversary of the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965.
Attendees are set to be provided with an overview of the Voting Rights Act’s history and current legislative challenges, as well as first-hand accounts about the impacts of voting and more information about voter engagement opportunities ahead of this year’s general election.
The event is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 9) at the Walnut Creek Library’s Oak Room. Registration is available by emailing janet@lwvdv.org.
Hearts of Danville
The town of Danville is seeking artists and businesses to participate in the Hearts of Danville public art project set for early next year.
“Running from January through March 2027, the project will feature 16 tabletop-sized heart sculptures, each standing 17 inches tall and transformed by a local artist into a one-of-a-kind work of art,” town officials said in a press release July 25.
“The completed sculptures will be displayed in community buildings and local businesses throughout Downtown Danville for all to enjoy,” they continued.
Artist applications are due by Aug. 16. More information is available at danville.ca.gov/hearts.
