Authorities arrested a man this month on suspicion of approaching youth in Danville and “intentionally dropping lewd photographs of himself in front of them”, town police said in a press release Thursday.
The 38-year-old Castro Valley man booked into county jail for misdemeanor annoying or molesting a child and felony distribution of harmful materials. Police said they believe he is also connected to several similar previous incidents and is asking the public to come forward with any additional information.
“Danville Police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone who believes they may have experienced similar behavior, or who has information related to these incidents, to contact Danville Police Department at 925-314-3700,” police stated in their press release.
According to police, the department has been investigating numerous reports involving similar circumstances in Danville since January 2025.
But it wasn’t until Sept. 11, that officers were able to connect their suspect to those past cases.
Prior to his arrest, Danville officers responded to a call from Railroad Avenue where a 16-year-old said she “recognized a man she believed was responsible for a previous incident”.
According to the police department, officers located a man who matched the description and took him into custody. He was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.Â
He was later released from custody the next morning (Sept. 12), according to Ted Asregadoo, public information officer at the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office
Danville police said the arrest follows an ongoing investigation into multiple reports of similar incidents and that officers had been working on identifying the culprit.
“Following the arrest, investigators were able to connect the suspect to multiple previous reports,” the department stated in Thursday’s press release.
According to Asregadoo, the arrestee had not been officially charged as of Friday. “To date, we have not received the case for review and to make a filing decision,” he told DanvilleSanRamon.com via email.
DanvilleSanRamon reached out to the Danville Police Department to inquire about the evidence that is believed to connect their suspect to these cases but has not heard back as of time of publication.
