Graduation events
Graduation season has arrived in the Tri-Valley as schools across the region get set to send off their graduating seniors over the next week, starting with Pleasanton Unified School District’s three high schools this Friday (May 29) and culminating with SRVUSD’s high school graduations next week.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District will close this year’s Tri-Valley graduation ceremonies with all four high schools — California High School, Dougherty Valley High School, Monte Vista High School and San Ramon Valley High School — hosting their graduations next Friday, June 5. Each of the ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. and take place at each of the respective high school stadiums.
The ceremonies in Pleasanton will kick off with Village High School’s graduation taking place at the Firehouse Arts Center at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Then, starting at 5 p.m., Foothill High School will host its graduation ceremony, which will then be followed by Amador Valley High School’s graduation at 7 p.m. — both will take place at their respective school fields.
Over in Livermore, Granada High School is scheduled to host its graduation ceremony starting at 5 p.m. on Friday (May 29) at the campus’ football field. Beginning at the same time on Friday, Livermore High School is set to host its ceremony at the LHS football field.
Next week, Dublin High School will celebrate its graduating seniors on Wednesday, June 3, starting at 4:30 at the campus’ stadium. The day before, June 2, Valley High School — Dublin’s continuation school — will hold its graduation ceremony inside Dublin High School’s Performing Arts Center starting at 5 p.m.

Moonlight Movies get underway June 19 with “Cool Runnings,” returning July 3 with “Captain America: The First Avenger” July 3, “Lilo and Stitch” July 17, and “The Princess Bride” July 31, all with showtimes set at 6:30 p.m.
Public document stations at county courthouses
Contra Costa Superior Court is now allowing the public to access documents in criminal cases free of charge via kiosks located at its courthouses, with printing costs at 50 cents per page.
“To ensure availability for all users, staff may impose reasonable time limits on kiosk usage,” Contra Costa court officials said in an announcement Tuesday.
New heart procedure at SRRMC
San Ramon Regional Medical Center has announced a new heart procedure at the San Ramon Valley’s major inpatient hospital for treating atrial fibrillation.
Hospital officials announced last month that cardiologist Richard Chang had successfully performed the facility’s first-ever Amulet procedure on a 74-year-old patient. That procedure involves the use of a small metal device to seal the left atrial appendage, a major source of blood clots for people with the heart condition.
Unlike previously developed treatments for atrial fibrillation, the Amulet procedure does not require continued medication and monitoring, making it a “gamechanger” according to SRRMC officials.
“Our entire cardiovascular team at San Ramon Regional Medical Center is focused on stroke prevention and advancing patient care and we are excited to be able to offer this new treatment for patients in our community who are at risk for ischemic stroke due to AFib,” said SRRMC CEO Rob Anderson in a press release April 24.
