Fire crews gained control of a vegetation fire alongside Interstate 580 between Dublin and Castro Valley on Sunday afternoon, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
The situation began unfolding at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 20) when firefighters were called out to a grass fire in the area of westbound I-580 at Eden Canyon and Palomares roads in Castro Valley, according to ACFD. Witnesses at the scene reported a car was on fire on the side of the freeway.
ACFD units stopped forward progress within 30 minutes and ultimately contained the blaze to 3.5 acres, held between the freeway and Dublin Boulevard, according to the department.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened, according to ACFD.
