Renovations are underway in San Ramon to convert Clementine’s Restaurant into the first East Bay outpost of the Casa Mia Restaurant brand recognizable in Silicon Valley.

The owners, who teased the transition earlier this month on social media, confirmed the move on Sunday by announcing the Cajun restaurant at 18070 San Ramon Valley Blvd. was closed and would be opening anew soon.

“After many wonderful years, Clementine’s Restaurant has officially closed its doors, but something exciting is on the way!” ownership said on Instagram. “A fresh new look, delicious Mexican & American cuisine, and the same warm hospitality you know and love … Mi Casa Es Tu Casa!”

Construction crews were working away inside the restaurant on Monday morning while handwritten signs on whiteboards notified prospective patrons of the temporary closure: “Clementine’s is now closed. A new chapter begins. Casa Mia Restaurant coming soon.”

Management had not responded to multiple requests for comment so far this week. Co-owner Elias Sandoval declined a phone interview Tuesday afternoon, deferring instead to the email inquiries that have yet to be answered.

Sandoval’s group took over the decade-plus-old restaurant in early 2025 and maintained its familiar Cajun cuisine concept for more than a year and a half. In a profile with DanvilleSanRamon’s Tri-Valley Foodist blog in February, Sandoval highlighted the New Orleans-style food and drink offered at Clementine’s – without hinting at any plans for a rebrand in line with its other restaurants in Silicon Valley.

Casa Mia Restaurants are operated by the group in San Jose, Mountain View and San Carlos.

A debut date for Casa Mia in San Ramon has not been announced yet, but the online ordering system still active on the Clementine’s website references a reopening date of Nov. 5.

Clementine’s had been in business since 2012 in the restaurant space adjacent to a small strip mall and the Sonesta Select hotel at the southeast corner of the prominent intersection of San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Bollinger Canyon Road, just off Interstate 680. The restaurant opened under its original ownership in the building vacated by Marie Callender’s about a year earlier amid that company’s bankruptcy.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, Clementine’s became a staple for those looking for southern-style or American comfort food in the Tri-Valley. It also hosted the monthly Mayor’s Breakfast for years under San Ramon’s former mayor, Bill Clarkson, until the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns that coincided with his final year in office.
