San Ramon council workshop

The San Ramon City Council is meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 3) to discuss goals and priorities for the 2024 to 2025 fiscal year. The agenda is available here.

SRVEF luncheon and State of the School District

The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation is hosting its annual Celebrate Innovation in Education Luncheon in Danville next week, aimed at providing highlights from the San Ramon Valley Unified School District over the past year and information about initiatives that have been supported by the foundation’s Major Gifts and Endowment Fund.

“This annual event is so important because it gives me the opportunity to highlight the amazing things our district is doing and how the SRVEF Major Gifts and Endowment Fund supports our work and helps students thrive,” SRVUSD Superintendent John Malloy said in a Feb. 1 announcement. “I encourage all members of our community to attend and learn about the work of the SRVEF and how our partnership is integral to student success.”

Proceeds from the luncheon are set to go towards that same fund.

“Our committee is honored to find and fund innovating educators who are stretching their creativity for students and their profession,” said Bette Felton, a member of the foundation’s endowment committee. ” Lunch guests will hear exciting updates on funded projects.”

The event is set for Wednesday (Feb. 7)  from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the  Bay Club Crow Canyon at 711 Silver Lake Drive in Danville. More information and registration is available here.

“Sidewalk Stroll” in Danville

The Town of Danville’s latest public art project is aimed at making the most of continued wet weather conditions, with art at 10 different locations on sidewalks throughout town that become visible as rain pours down on them.

“Sidewalk Stroll: A Rainworks Project” was announced ahead of the latest rainstorm on Jan. 29.

The project makes use of water resistant spray on messages placed by the town’s cultural arts team, with organizers saying that the theme of the project becomes apparent after seeing each of the 10 designs.

A passport map of the project is available here, with participants who submit a completed passport receiving an Auggie the Acorn coloring book, in addition to a raffle for those who answer the bonus question.

“Things learned on the trail”

The City of San Ramon’s Open Space Advisory Committee is hosting author and veteran hiker Susan Alcorn for a discussion aimed at encouraging hiking for all and highlighting the benefits and impact of the activity on her own life and the lives of other women.

The event is set for Feb. 10 at the Terrace Room in the San Ramon Community Center at 12501 Alcosta Blvd. in San Ramon from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. More information and registration is available here.
