Fine wine, vodka and $1,000 were stolen from the Peasant and the Pear in Danville.
The burglary occurred at the restaurant on Hartz Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 9, said restaurant owner Rodney Worth. High-end wine worth $5,000 was stolen, as well as $1,000 from a safe.
Among the upscale wines taken were Opus One, Joseph Phelps and Silverado, he said, noting that a case of each was stolen. Also four cases of Grey Goose Vodka and Kettle One Vodka were taken.
The burglary was discovered Monday morning, Worth said.
The restaurant apparently was entered through the back door by pushing it open, said Worth.
He noted that police are still looking for leads.
“It’s sad,” Worth said. “It’s during Christmas. You wouldn’t think it would happen in a community like this.”
“This is the first time in four years that this happened,” he added.
