The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District will be training from Tuesday, June 23, through Thursday, June 25, so residents should not be alarmed if they see or smell smoke in the air.
This training exercise is designed to prepare firefighters for wildfire season and will include extinguishing grass fires in the controlled environment at Army Reserve base, Camp Parks, in Dublin. This training does not present a threat to homes in the area and is entirely contained to the Army Reserve base, Camp Parks, in Dublin.
Preparation for the drill, including some controlled burns, will being Tuesday, June 23. The drill itself will run for two days, June 24 and June 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Training will include firefighters extinguishing grass fires in this controlled environment.
Firefighters from San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Alameda County Fire Department, along with other Departments through out the Bay Area will all be participating in this two day training.
Over the past 12 years this drill has proven to be very valuable for firefighters as they train and prepare to protect our community in the event wildfire.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District service area encompasses approximately 155 square miles, covering the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, the Town of Danville, Diablo, the City of San Ramon, the southern boundary of Morgan Territory and the Tassajara Valley, all located in Contra Costa County. The District has 185 full-time employees and 50 volunteers.
