Matthew J. Stamey was unanimously named to the Fire District board Oct. 19, to fill the seat vacated by Director Kenneth Sandy who resigned earlier this year.

“Matthew Stamey has many qualities important to the Fire District,” said Director Roxanne Lindsay. “Among them; good knowledge of fire board governance, a solid financial background and a sincere concern for the quality of service in the San Ramon Valley.”

Stamey is a long time member of the business community and has served in leadership and management roles working with several Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to his retirement, he managed multi-million dollar budgets, negotiated multi-year customer agreements and managed product implementations.

He has served as chairman of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament and also supports the community by giving his time to several local charities including the 100 Club of Contra Costa County.

“My goals are simple,” said Stamey. “I pledge to meet and exceed the high levels of service expected by this community, maintain a balanced budget, and to implore a policy of sound fiscal planning for the future of our district.”

Stamey holds a bachelor of science degree in business management from Arizona State University and studied advanced management at the University of Chicago.

“Board membership comes with immense fiduciary responsibility to the residents of the San Ramon Valley,” said Stamey. “I intend to exceed their expectations.”

Stamey has lived in the East Bay since 1976 and in Danville for the past 22 years.

He will take the Oath of Office at the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District’s Board of Directors meeting Nov. 18.
