An Operation Welcome Home ceremony was held for Lance Cpl. Paul Nawrath, USMC, on Nov. 3 at the Danville Town Meeting Hall before the Town Council meeting. Nawrath served in Iraq from August 2008 to March 2009.
“A hundred and fifty people turned out for this Welcome Home,” said Mayor Newell Arnerich a few days later. “This gets bigger and bigger.”
Patriot Riders were there to welcome home the Marine, as well as the Lafayette Flag Brigade and Blue Star Moms, among other groups and his family and friends. Nawrath will be deployed to Afghanistan on Nov. 12.
The Operation Welcome Home program was started on March 3, 2004, in Danville. To inform the town of any Danville resident who is a returning military service member, contact Rochelle Flotten at 314-3328 or rflotten@ci.danville.ca.us.
