How fun would it be to take a fire truck to school? Two young artists in the San Ramon Valley know firsthand.
Lauren Frew, a fifth-grader at Tassajara Hills Elementary School in Danville, and Kaitlyn Evitt, a kindergartner at Neil Armstrong Elementary School in San Ramon, along with four other students, won a ride to school in a fire truck by participating in the 2009 Fire Prevention Month Coloring Contest.
This contest, sponsored by San Ramon Valley Fire, the Danville Weekly and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, asked students to draw and color what it meant to them to be “Fire Smart.” More than 100 entries were received, and one winner from each grade level was selected to take a ride to school in a fire truck. The other four winners will take their rides in December.
The winners were:
Kindergarten – Kaitlyn Evitt, Neil Armstrong Elementary
First – Victoria Sackl, Montevideo Elementary
Second – Camille Casparian, Walt Disney Elementary
Third – Rohan Puranik, Montevideo Elementary
Fourth – Lani Kwon, John Baldwin Elementary
Fifth – Lauren Frew, Tassajara Hills Elementary
