Meet the candidates.
The San Ramon Valley Republican Women Federated are presenting the five Republican candidates expected to file papers in March to run for the 11th Congressional District seat now held by Democrat Jerry McNerney.
“We want to educate our members about who’s running and what they stand for,” said moderator Judy Lloyd, who was a Republican candidate for Assembly District 15 in 2008. “We’ve done forums of this kind before, when I was running.”
The candidates who will be at the luncheon are Tony Amador, Robert Beadles, Elizabeth Emken, Brad Goehering and David Harmer.
“It gives the members an opportunity to get to know those running and evaluate their candidacy and see who they want to represent them in Congress,” said Lloyd.
The presentation will take place at the club’s luncheon Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Crow Canyon Country Club. Lunch costs $23. For reservations, call Leta Rockwell at 838-2908, or e-mail rockwellsnuggery@comcast.net.

Dear Dolores,
It has become reality that several Republican Women’s groups have lacked following by the majority of voters. Republicans should be able to offer exceptional fiscal responsibility and focus on national values. Clearly, I voted for David in the 15th Congressional District election, but do Republicans understand such voting by non-party voters? Do they understand why opportunity is now present beyond the party’s platform?
Tell us, Dolores, what is the remaining contest between moderate voters of all parties’ background and the local Republican Party?

I am hoping that we can find a candidate who will bring some sanity to the House of Representatives.
Regardless of party, we need a representative in Congress who will truly represent all of the constituents of the 11th District, not just special interests favored by radical left-wing extremists in the Democratic Party. We need a representative in Congress who will be a guardian of our tax dollars, not one who votes to spend wantonly, knowing full well we don’t have the money and must borrow it.
That person is definately not Representative Jerry McNerney. McNerney’s voting record makes it clear that he has betrayed the average constituent of the 11th District. When it comes time to vote, he will be held accountable for his actions by the electorate.
McNerney will dominate these evangelical right-wing hacks come Nov. 2010. Elizabeth Emken should go work for the 700 Club.

The reason for the interview process in an election is to give the voters a chance to meet and great the candidates and decide on their own as to who would be the best to represent all of us in our community. I for one have had it with politics as usual with the liberal left and the band of thieves in Washington (Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and the likes).
This group of Republicans candidates running for the 11th district is giving us a good cross section of right minded folks to choose from….. I’m sick of McNerney being a rubber stamp for the left instead of voting what’s right for us in the 11th district….. what we need is to get back to the foundation of what makes our country great and it’s time for McNerney to go…..
Of all the candidates running this election year, David Harmer to me is made of the “Right Stuff”…. I encourage every voter to take the time to see for themselves….. I plan to attend the luncheon on the 26th…… The time is now to take back our country…..
Gotta love these conservatives trying to prove who is the most close-minded, intolerant, and backward. I wonder how many of these wingnuts think the earth is only 6,000 years old. Instead of focusing on politics, conservatives should create a time machine to travel back to the 1830s when their ideas might have made sense.
Hey, Sal. You do not sound like a happy camper. Inviting voters to an open forum is very “open-minded”. Sounds good to me to “know what candidates stand for”. Sure beats voting on 2,000 page bills written in secret meetings, filled with pork and voted on WITHOUT EVEN BEING READ. “Wingnuts”?, since when is name calling a mature and productive thing to do? I’m happy to be a “Wingnut” if it means educating myself, on who it is that has a good Moral Compass, and will restore Moral Decency to our Congress. Pay attetion to the candidates who CARE about the future we hand to our children and grandchildren. One such candidate is David Harmer, a man of principle. He was raised on Reagan with his dad being Lt. Governor under Reagan and he also worked with Heritage Foundation. He will do the right thing when it comes to the future of our children.
I must say, I will be voting for David Harmer. Sal, your attempt at creating devision is a moot point right now. I am sorry you are angry. We are all angry with what has happened to our state, but misguided fussing will not help.
Sal, time is not a constant in physics. Light is the only constant. Look it up. But what seems to be constant is your attitude. I doubt it would be appropriate even for a child in 1830.

You might consider encouraging these SIX candidates to tell your readership who they are and where they focus in the economics and politics of our national government. Since the forum proposed is among the more conservative political minority of our region, it would be of advantage to the moderate majority to understand each candidate.
Further, let’s this time look forward. We do not need to hear that anyone is a Reagan Republican or similar history because these are not times similar to the Reagan Era. What is needed is a focused fiscal view of how we move forward with national humanity, economy, and global community.
Now wouldn’t it be lovely?

Jerry McNerney our Rep in Dist 11 with his strong leadership on issues important to us has proven beyond any doubt he is the perfect Rep for us. His strong support for our brave soldiers, veterans and families has been very valuable. McNerney even took time to travel to the war zone over Christmas to support our troops. We all need his continued help in getting our economy back on track after the Bush near depression.
It is the liberals who are ruining this country; not the conservatives! How can anyone in their “right” mind vote for a Democrat after witnessing their lack of transparency and big spending. They have “thumbed their noses” at the taxpayers of this country. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd and Franks are communists in my book! Their policies are destroying the country….but maybe that is what Obama intended to do???!!! He is a Muslim! He never attends church. Think about it! He and his family take expensive trips while Americans are losing their jobs and homess and his main focus is on healthcare???!!!! The healthcare in this country is the best in the world and he’s trying to destroy it….why? Everything he has done since taking office has been “wrong”! He either doesn’t know what he’s doing or he “does”!!!!!
2010 looks to be the most important election of our time….maybe even ever in our history. Amen to what Cookie said. We need leaders with a Moral Compass. The greed and corruption that has surfaced is appaling and has reached new heights! Our Constitution needs to be protected. 2010 is our opportunity for “Morally Decent Hope and Change”!…your vote counts more now then any other time in our history…for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
