Police searched a home on Morning Glory Court in San Ramon on Jan. 19 to discover several firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, high capacity magazines, body armor, gas masks and numerous items of military and police equipment.

Police arrested Steven Sanoff, 42, on numerous felony and misdemeanor weapons-related charges, possession of stolen property, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of controlled substances, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

“There was a domestic issue going on there,” said Lt. Dan Pratt of the San Ramon Police Department. “He lives with his folks.”

They suspected weapons after the domestic issue call and, knowing that as a convicted felon Sanoff is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, they returned with a search warrant.

“There was a lot of military stuff at the house,” said Pratt. “A variety of holsters, a bunch of military web gear and equipment, vests with pockets, typical of someone performing military functions.”

Firearms included a camouflaged and scoped high power rifle, camouflaged assault type rifles and a shotgun. One of the rifles was stolen.

The police equipment included police batons, pepper spray and a large variety of gun parts.

A search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for the suspect were served at approximately 5 p.m. Jan. 19.

Sanoff was booked at the Main Detention Facility. Bail is currently set at $375,000.
