Residents can begin their holiday celebration early with the opening of Christmas Memories at the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, on view through Dec. 31. This delightful exhibit is a tradition at the Museum that brings the past to life.
Christmas Memories begins with a display of a Christmas tree as it would have looked in the 1890’s. Nestled under the tree and in a Santa’s Workshop are toys and keepsakes from earlier generations, along with the Museum’s special model train. Many other nostalgic items — including a Winnie the Pooh collection, doll houses, and different Christmas Village scenes — are on display from Valley residents.
Activities include a treasure hunt for a popular toy that everyone “had” to have with the year or era it was introduced and a Christmas Carol matching game. There will also be an outdoor tree with carolers.
An open house will be held immediately after the lighting of the Danville Oak Tree on Friday, Nov. 25. But those busy with Black Friday shopping or sleeping off their Thanksgiving dinners needn’t worry, Santa will make a special visit to the Museum on Dec. 10 and 17.
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is located at 205 Railroad Ave. in Danville and is open Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
