Occasionally known as Camelot, Danville was profiled as part of the ongoing “Strong Cities | Strong State” campaign highlighting local government success stories across California. A project of the League of California Cities and the California City Management Foundation, the campaign lauded Danville for its “spirit of unity.”
“The town of Danville has many success stories of programs and projects embracing community collaboration and partnerships fostering our small town atmosphere and outstanding quality of life,” said Mayor Candace Andersen. “We are excited about showcasing Danville’s role in building a better California.”
Among the highlights in Danville’s profile are the Village Theater and Art Gallery, Street Smarts traffic safety campaign, Veterans Memorial Building and retail incentive programs.
“I am so proud to promote Danville as a destination and so appreciative of the town of Danville’s active participation in cooperative marketing, informative seminars, retail incentives, a shop local campaign and even facade enhancements,” wrote Cottage Jewel owner and Discover Danville Association President Marcia Harmon. “They have a first-class team with a perfect vision for growing our small businesses while we maintain our friendly, small town charm!”
“Strong Cities” features four stories relating to the town’s success as well as a photo slideshow of Danville activities. The highlighted programs are just a sampling of initiatives and happenings around town, Assistant Town Manager Marcia Somers said.
According to the website, Danville is considered a strong city based on its commitment to preserving the past while planning for the future. The Town Council, staff, utility and school districts work with the community to conduct long-range planning with the least impact.
The “Strong Cities | Strong State” website is the centerpiece of a campaign promoting city success stories alongside profiles of the elected officials and city managers. Other featured Bay Area cities include Concord, Patterson, San Jose, Gilroy, Livermore and Morgan Hill.
