St. Isidore School’s beloved school principal, Jean Schroeder recently announced her retirement and will say many tearful goodbyes in June.
Schroeder has spent 21 years at St. Isidore both as a teacher and administrator. Since she took over as principal seven years ago, Schroeder has kept the school full, raised funds to build a new library, extended the kindergarten day and kept a balanced budget throughout a varying economic climate.
During her tenure, Schroeder hired a curriculum coach to ensure that St. Isidore students receive the best education possible and that staff has the tools necessary to meet those needs. The curriculum has continued to evolve and place technology in the hands of students.
In addition to running a school of 647 children, she continues to teach 8th grade religion and prioritizes a strong religious foundation. Schroeder does not miss a Friday school Mass and often makes time during her day to give a school tour to interested parents.
Schroeder is known to be extremely accessible, never failing to return a phone call and always has an open door. She has a smile that is shared with everyone and deep love for all of her students, some of whom are the children of former students. It is a point of pride that Schroeder knows each student by name and a little something about them.
Additionally, Schroeder gives students personal attention by handing out report cards and putting personal notes on homework and tests.
Making the decision to retire was not easy, but Schroeder said she knew that the time was right. She and her husband Don have three grown daughters and three granddaughters who are ready to be spoiled by her love.
Whether she is handing out “calming mints,” giving a hug, enforcing the skirt length, or leading the school in the Rosary Schroeder will be missed by all. Her vision of a strong and faithful community, a competitive and nurturing curriculum and a charitable environment will undoubtedly continue in St. Isidore students, administration and families.

Mrs. Schroeder is the best!! I was lucky enough to have her for a teacher and she was my favorite. She made school very real for all of her students . Thank you Mrs. Schroeder!!
It has been a great pleasure having Mrs. Schroeder as our school principal. She has done a fabulous job, and while we are sad to see her go, we hope she enjoys the time she and her husband truly deserve.
