Cold weather is finally pricking the skin of San Ramon Valley residents, as the Indian Summer faded this week. With the spirit of fall in the air, Roving Reporter Stan Wharton walked along the Iron Horse Trail to ask joggers, bicyclists and those enjoying a light stroll Where do you go for fall colors?
John Washalaski, Telecom manager: We’ve done the fall colors in New England, and it’s a nice trip. Around here, I like to ride my bike along Las Trampas Ridge, and the colors there are beautiful.
Sonya Borlandelli, Retired GMAC supervisor: The autumn colors of the foothills of the Allegheny mountains are like oriental carpets. They are a sight to behold. I grew up in southwestern New York state and always marveled at their splendor. However, the colors you see now along Danville’s Camino Tasajara are some we locals should treasure.
Shannon Neach, Tutor and five-kid mom: On the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana is the most beautiful fall you will ever see. We took my thirteen year old back there last October to see a Notre Dame game, and he got to experience that incredible fall scene first hand.
Laura Wahl, Psychotherapist: I love to ride my bike almost daily on the Iron Horse Trail. Either side of the trail has gorgeous colors every season but especially in the fall, my favorite season.
Chris Wayman, IT: I like to go to the Sierras to see the Aspen. Although we’re past the peak right now, they’re still beautiful.
Ummmm—you wrote “Indian”—oh we are so offended–oh my! You need to go to a re-education camp where we can make you think right!!!!! Call Obama and the socialists—you must be reported.
Rose, the term “Indian Summer” has been used since the 1700’s to convey a heat wave that occurs in Autumn. What does Obama have to do with Indain Summer? Perhaps you should go to re-education camp. Please don’t refer to “we”. If you are so offended by “Indian” Summer, maybe you would be happier in some other area. Danville and California don’t need any more negative and unhappy people living here.
@JJ: there are several contributors to this forum who are working their way through the stages of grief — I think that “sarcasm” is a subset of Stage 2 “Anger.”
I just hope the GOPers in the House get to the Bargaining stage, and soon.
