Although Bishop Ranch employees have a variety of lunchtime options — from Whole Foods and the farmers market to any number of local eateries — hungry workers are enjoying a new lunch experience that regularly rolls by the office: food trucks.

The trucks, which offer a variety of cuisine at reasonable prices, have made their rounds in the business complex since 2010 and are enormously popular with Bishop Ranch employees as well as those just interested something different for lunch. The food trucks rotate on a weekly basis, giving consumers a variety of food to choose from.

“They help create a really great feeling with lots of people eating outside together, enjoying the food and each other’s company,” said Alex Mehran Jr., General Manager at Bishop Ranch.

Organizers from Food Truck Mafia, which reaches out to food truck owners and creates mobile food events, believe that the “food truck craze is great because it is open to the public and is something new.”

Twister Mexican Grill has served tenants at Bishop Ranch 1, 3 and 15 for over a year, and manager Erin Keikoan said she has loved every minute of it.

“My regular customers are awesome and make the food truck experience for both the employees and fellow food consumers worthwhile,” Keikoan said. “Having a food truck in the Bishop Ranch location gives us great exposure, and we have been getting positive feedback in regards to our food.”

Aris Necesito, co-owner of Yummi Barbeque, has also noticed a positive response from the Bishop Ranch customers, particularly with a new menu item.

“We recently had the lemon grass beef burger presented at the Bishop Ranch location and the item sold out immediately. The customers have been asking us to make it a regular menu item, so now it is on the permanent menu. We love the customers and the Bishop Ranch community,” Necesito said.

Two to three local food trucks stop at Bishop Ranch 1 and 3 on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bishop Ranch 15, and soon Bishop Ranch 3, have food trucks on Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Some of the food trucks that are at the Bishop Ranch locations are:

* Chairman Bao’s truck menu consists of steamed bao with pork belly, pulled pork with savoy cabbage and Coca Cola braised pork steamed buns.

* Twister truck serves its popular twister burrito cone, which consists of black beans, pico de gallo, cheddar and jack cheese, avocado and more.

* The Melt offers a variety of sandwiches such as the mozzarella, zesty caprese sandwich and the southern comfort sandwich complete with cheddar, bacon, barbeque sauce and caramelized onions.

* Yummi Barbeque offers Korean BBQ cuisine including rice wraps, tacos and Tatay’s crispy wings.

* Kara’s Cupcakes offers delicious desserts including red velvet, java, peanut butter milk chocolate ganache and gluten free chocolate coconut cupcakes.

* Cabana Daves’ food truck offers scrumptious sweet potato fries, Jamaican jerk wrap, as well as Mahi Mahi fish tacos.

* Kinders’ food truck menu consists of Kinder’s ball tip sandwich, Louisiana linguisa sausages and BBQ chicken salad.

Food Truck Mafia also helps with fundraisers, giving a percentage of proceeds to the cause that sponsors the dining experience. For information on how to book a food truck event, or more information about Food Truck Mafia, contact April Bibbins at thefoodtruckmafia@gmail.com.
