Police have identified a woman who was critically injured when she was hit by a suspected drunken driver in Danville on Monday night.
Police said 53-year-old Danville resident Diana Gregory was walking near Camino Tassajara and Tassajara Lane at about 9 p.m. when a driver heading east on Camino Tassajara struck her, police said.
Gregory was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with life-threatening injuries. She remained hospitalized in critical condition this afternoon.
Police said the driver, 50-year-old Samuel Herrick of Danville, was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury and was booked into county jail in Martinez.
The victim wasn’t carrying any ID at the time of the collision, and police were unable to identify her until Tuesday. She was wearing khaki shorts and a gray T-shirt at the time of the collision, and was described as a white woman in her 50s or early 60s, roughly 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 105 pounds.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Danville police at 314-3700.

Someone must know this woman. She walked along Camino Tassajara, between Blackhawk and Sycamore Valley Road, nearly every day. She had a jaunty stride and wobbled her head from side to side, and was usually wearing earbuds. She must live in one of the neighborhoods along that stretch. Can someone help identify her?
Sam- is this the woman that walked a lot & wore a backpack? I recognize her from living nearby…
Woman identified as Diana Gregory of Danville. Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers.
According to the few comments above I see her almost every day she is also a member of Danville Fit..
Our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. Does anyone know if Diana is English? I may have had a chat with her one time along the trail and I think she said she was raised in London or thereabouts. I think she said she lived in D.C. as well at one time.
Interesting!
