A Danville real estate agent will spend 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl.

Ronald Schwartz, 66, was sentenced in a Martinez courtroom Friday morning, days after pleading guilty to six counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

A judge also issued a 10-year order to stay away from the victim and ordered the defendant to pay restitution and to register as a sex offender.

Schwartz, a Brentwood resident who worked in Danville, was arrested in the summer of 2012 after calling a suicide hotline and confessing to sexually abusing a young relative, according to Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Chad Mahalich.

He has been in custody since that time.

The court heard Friday from members of the victim’s family, including the victim’s mother.

Mahalich alleged Schwartz previously abused two other young girls, but was not charged in connection with those cases.

  1. What a sick creep! People like this should be removed from society for a much longer time that 18 years. Lets hope he can no longer do any harm cause he will be old when he gets out. But based on stories similar they continue to have this illness and don’t change. The child will be marred for life so the victim never will be free. Where’s the fairness in that?

  2. Hey Louise don’t worry about it…the in-house inmates will take special care of this scum bag.
