The town of Danville, in partnership with the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce and Discover Danville Association, has created a new local gift card network called the Danville Gift Pass, town officials announced this week.

The Danville Gift Pass, which works similar to a MasterCard gift card, can be redeemed at participating Danville merchants. The pass can be sent to the recipient by email or text message.

Shoppers can send the gift pass by visiting Danville’s Yiftee website and entering the recipient’s name and email/cell phone number, and pay. The pass can also be sent via Yiftee’s iPhone or Android app.

“The Danville Gift Pass is a great way for people to send a thoughtful gift quickly and easily, and will also allow residents to support our wonderful local merchants,” said Jill Bergman, town economic development manager.

Some of the local merchants already registered include Norm’s Place, Kathlyn Stone Jewelry, Ike’s Lair, House of Games and Acai-Me Superfoods Cafe. A list of all the local merchants can be viewed online.

Merchants that would like to join the Danville Gifting Network can register online with no registration fee.

“We are so excited to be a part of this innovative program that easily connects Danville merchants with its residents, businesses and professionals, furthering a culture of community and giving that benefits the whole,” said Debbie Voorhees, Yiftee community development coordinator.
