The candidate lists are set as the nomination period has closed for seats on the Danville Town Council, San Ramon Valley school board and other regional governing boards up for election this November.
Four local races are on track to be contested this fall while the remaining elections saw only incumbents file for available positions, according to candidate information posted on the Contra Costa County Registrar of Voters’ Office website after the filing deadline passed Friday afternoon.
Danville Town Council: It’s a three-person contest for two spots on the Danville council as incumbents Karen Stepper and Robert Storer and newcomer Tony Adamich successfully filed nomination papers.
Stepper seeks her fourth consecutive term on the council while Storer, who is serving as Danville mayor in 2014, vies for his second full term — he was selected to fill an unexpired term in October 2009 before earning a full four-year term in 2010.
Adamich, owner of Consignit Couture on Hartz Avenue in downtown Danville, is the lone challenger. In his candidate statement, Adamich described his main priorities as promoting “true economic vitality” and working to “protect open spaces and fight urban sprawl.”
San Ramon Valley Unified School District: Three incumbents and one challenger qualified to run for a trio of seats available on the Board of Education.
Rachel Hurd, the current school board president, seeks her third straight term in office.
Board vice president Denise Jennison is running for her second term.
Ken Mintz, the third incumbent, is going for his third full term. He served initially from 1992-96, was appointed to fill an unexpired term in 2009 and then elected to his second full term in November 2010.
The fourth candidate is challenger Jerome C. Pandell, an attorney and San Ramon Valley High School graduate.
San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District: One incumbent and three challengers aim to fill two seats on the fire agency’s Board of Directors.
Glenn Umont, current board president, was the lone incumbent to file candidacy papers. Director Jennifer G. Price did not seek re-election.
The three other candidates are Chris Campbell, Donald R. Parker and Dale A. Price (no relation to Jennifer Price, according to San Ramon Valley Fire representatives).
Contra Costa County Board of Education: Two people are vying to represent San Ramon and Danville as part of the county education board’s Trustee Area 4.
Incumbent Richard Asadoorian, originally elected in 2010, is set to face off against challenger Mike Maxwell.
In other races: Current officeholders were the only candidates to file bids to sit on six other local governing bodies.
* Contra Costa Community College District, Ward 4 representative John T. Nejedly is seeking re-election.
* Incumbents Michael R. McGill and David R. Williams are running for at-large positions on the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District Board of Directors.
* Longtime East Bay Regional Park District director Beverly Lane filed to again represent the district’s Ward 6.
* John A. Coleman seeks re-election to the East Bay Municipal Utility District Board of Directors as the representative of Ward 2, which includes all of Danville and part of San Ramon.
* Incumbent Frank Mellon was the only candidate to successfully file nomination papers for EBMUD Ward 7 director, which serves a portion of San Ramon.
* Dawn L. Benson and Georgean Vonheeder-Leopold are seeking re-election as at-large directors for the Dublin San Ramon Services District, according to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters’ Office website.
