The San Ramon Valley school board on Tuesday (Sept. 23) will receive an update on student enrollment and staffing levels district-wide at the start of this school year.
Roughly 31,900 students were enrolled in district schools as of Sept. 8, an increase of more than 500 students compared to early in the 2013-14 school year, according to district staff.
The school district filled about 115 new teaching positions (full-time equivalent) and rehired 107 temporary teachers this year while approximately 185 certificated teachers retired, resigned or requested leave, according to district staff.
The presentation on enrollment and staffing is among several agenda items for Tuesday night’s open-session meeting, set to start at 7 p.m. inside the boardrooms at 699 Old Orchard Drive in Danville.
In other business, board members will conduct a public hearing about whether to dedicate a slope easement on the Alamo Elementary School site in favor of Contra Costa County as part of the county’s safety improvement project on Livorna and Wilson roads near the campus.
The board declared its intent to dedicate the easement during its last meeting. Final approval could come after the public hearing Tuesday.
Board members will also receive a presentation about current activities and programs at Stone Valley Middle School in Alamo.
