The San Ramon City Council on Tuesday (Oct. 14) will discuss a proposed ordinance that would amend the appeal process for massage businesses in the city.
According to city staff, the current municipal code allows massage establishments to make an appeal to city council, to be heard in open session, if their operations permits are denied, revoked or suspended by the police chief.
The city manager, police chief and city attorney contend graphic details that could be revealed during testimonies in some appeal cases would be inappropriate for a public session, according to city staff. The amendment proposes that the appeal hearings instead be held in a meeting conducted by an official chosen by the city manager.
The council is set to hold a public hearing on the issue this Tuesday at 7 p.m. in council chambers located at 2222 Camino Ramon in San Ramon.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the council will hear a presentation about the grand opening of the new Rancho San Ramon Community Park and the Amador Rancho Center, which is set for Saturday (Oct. 18).
