The San Ramon Valley school board is set to debate raising certain developer fees by about 5% during its meeting Tuesday evening (Oct. 21) in Danville.

State law allows the school district to collect fees on new development projects to fund construction or reconstruction of school facilities.

The State Allocation Board increased the maximum allowable “Level 1” developer fees earlier this year, and the resolution under school board consideration Tuesday would align local fees with those approved by the state board, according to school district staff.

The new Level 1 fees would be $3.36 per square foot (a 5% increase) for residential construction including additions over 500 square feet and 54 cents per square foot (up 5.88%) for commercial, industrial and senior housing construction. If approved by the school board, the new fees would take effect Dec. 20.

In other business during their meeting Tuesday, school board members will consider a resolution stating their assurance of the sufficiency of pupil textbooks and instructional materials this year.

The move would declare that all students in kindergarten through 12th grade have been provided with standards-aligned materials in the areas of math, science, reading and language arts, and history and social science.

Earlier in the meeting, the board will consider approving an employment contract with CJ Cammack, the district’s new assistant superintendent of human resources. His annual salary would be $192,027 under the contract.

Board members will discuss a reciprocal easement agreement for the Bella Vista Elementary School site and the process for selecting members for the Facilities Oversight Advisory Committee.

They will also receive presentations about recent activities at Danville’s Creekside Elementary School and about efforts toward infusing inclusive practices across the district.

The open-session school board meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the boardrooms at 699 Old Orchard Drive in Danville.
