A woman who was killed in a collision on Interstate Highway 580 in Livermore last week has been identified by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau as 36-year-old Erica Halter of Dublin.
California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel said officers responded to reports of a multiple-vehicle collision on eastbound I-580 just east of Vasco Road at 3:07 p.m. Wednesday. The aftermath of the crash slowed the evening commute on I-580 and I-680.
Creel said it appeared that a pickup truck rear-ended a Jeep Cherokee, which overturned and caught on fire. A Honda Civic and another pickup truck were also involved in the crash, Creel said.
Passersby pulled up to the scene and extinguished the fire, Creel said.
Halter was in the Jeep Cherokee that overturned, according to Creel. One person from the Honda Civic and another from a pickup truck were transported to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital with minor injuries, Creel said.
A Sig-alert was issued for all eastbound lanes on I-580 between North Livermore Avenue and Greenville Road for a short time after the crash.
