A San Ramon man was arrested in connection with a marijuana and hash oil operation after authorities searched a home in the southwest part of the city Tuesday morning, according to a police spokesman.
City police learned about a potential marijuana grow at a residence on Henry Lane, off Winding Creek Way near the intersection of Westside Drive and Pine Valley Road, according to Lt. Tom LaRocque.
Officers conducted a probation search at the home around 11 a.m. and found evidence of a marijuana grow and hash oil extraction operation, according to LaRocque.
During their search, police discovered a pressurized canister of suspected butane, which prompted officers to evacuate the home and call hazmat crews, the lieutenant said. San Ramon Valley Fire and Contra Costa County hazmat officials arrived, removed the canister and rendered the home safe.
In connection with the investigation, police arrested Ahmad Wais Sulaiman, 31, on felony charges of marijuana cultivation, manufacturing and possession for sale as well as probation violation. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility without bail, LaRocque said.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the lieutenant.
