Drinking water delivered by Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD), which provides potable and recycled water service to the Dougherty Valley area of San Ramon and wastewater collection and treatment to south San Ramon, has met all 2014 state and federal standards that protect human health and safety, according to the district’s annual water report released May 5.

The report summarizes data from thousands of water quality tests conducted by DSRSD and its wholesale water supplier, Zone 7 Water Agency.

California water utilities must test for more than 100 regulated contaminants, including coliform bacteria, arsenic, nitrate, hexavalent chromium, and lead.

“DSRSD’s water supply does not contain any regulated contaminants at levels higher than the standards allow” said district officials. “For every standard related to public health, DSRSD’s water quality was significantly better than required.”

The report also explains the sources of DSRSD’s water and answers frequently asked questions about taste, hardness, water softeners and fluoride. All California water agencies are required to explain how to minimize exposure to lead in drinking water from home plumbing fixtures, and to provide the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791) where individuals with specific health concerns can get more information.

DSRSD has published the report online to save paper and reduce costs. Printed copies can be mailed on request by emailing CustomerService@dsrsd.com or calling 828-8524.

All DSRSD water customers are set to receive the report’s online address this month or in June, either through a bill insert if they receive a paper water bill or by email if enrolled in paperless billing. The water district is also distributing the information to apartments, libraries and other public places.
