With police continuing their investigation into recent graffiti vandalism at Danville’s All Wars Memorial, community groups have raised the reward in the case to $12,000, nearly double the initial amount offered to help solicit information from the public.

Officials discovered black and red spray-painted graffiti around the memorial at Oak Hill Park the morning of June 8.

Authorities have released a faint photograph pulled from nighttime video from a camera at the park that shows two people — deemed by police as “persons of interest” — walking in the direction of the memorial around 3:30 a.m. June 8.

Town officials and private contributors combined to offer an initial reward of $6,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those response for the graffiti.

That reward was recently increased to $12,000 thanks to contributions from unnamed community organizations, according to a statement released by Danville town officials Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Danville police Det. Sgt. Brian Sliger at 314-3703 of bsliger@danville.ca.gov.
