San Ramon officials are set for another discussion about a proposed new Wendy’s restaurant Tuesday, but the hearing could be pushed out to later this month after project proponents asked for more time to respond to the Planning Commission’s questions about traffic circulation.
Property owners Phaas LLC/Amar Sindhu Property Management want permission to bring a Wendy’s with drive-thru service to 2222 San Ramon Valley Blvd., between the intersections with Purdue Road and Fostoria Way/Deerwood Road.
The vacant 0.73-acre site backs up to Interstate 680 and is about midway between two other fast-food chain restaurants: In-N-Out Burger and KFC. The Wendy’s proposal calls for a single-story, 3,278-square-foot eatery with operational hours from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
The Planning Commission discussed the project during a hearing two weeks ago and asked the applicant to provide more information about the site’s drive-thru vehicle queuing and on-site traffic circulation plan, according to city associate planner Cindy M. Yee.
The hearing was scheduled to continue on Tuesday, but the proponents have asked for it to be pushed out two additional weeks to give them more time to complete their research, Yee said.
City officials recommend the commission receive the latest staff report Tuesday evening, open the pre-scheduled public hearing, take citizen comments and continue the matter to Aug. 18 for further discussion.
The Wendy’s proposal is the only project on the commission’s agenda Tuesday. The meeting is set to start at 7 p.m. at San Ramon City Hall, 2222 Camino Ramon.
The city is considering whether to approve a land-use permit, and development plan and architectural review applications for the project. The proposal is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act guidelines as in-fill development, according to Yee.
