Danville Mayor Karen Stepper is set to update the community on the town’s activities over the past year and highlight what local residents can look forward to in the year ahead when she delivers the State of the Town address this Thursday.

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce will also present its annual community awards during the event, scheduled to run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Crow Canyon Country Club, 711 Silver Lake Drive in Danville.

Stepper, serving her third year as town mayor and in the middle of her fourth term overall on the Town Council, will present the update on town activities and then take part in a question-and-answer session with attendees, moderated by chamber chair Sina Enayati.

Chamber officials also recently announced the community award recipients, who will be formally recognized on Thursday.

This year’s Citizen of the Year is Bob Hammer, of the Have a Ball Foundation.

Business of the Year has co-winners, with Gianni’s Restaurant and Heritage Bank of Commerce each receiving the distinction.

Richard Delfosse, of Richard’s Arts & Crafts, was named Business Person of the Year, and Danville police chief Steve Simpkins was selected as Employee of the Year.

The Lazarex Cancer Foundation was the chamber’s choice as Charitable Organization of the Year.

The luncheon event — sponsored by Chevron, Republic Services, East Bay Municipal Utility District and Sutter Health, Palo Alto Medical Foundation — is open to the public and costs $35 per person. Reservations are required.
