The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a crash Saturday afternoon on Bollinger Canyon Road in the Dougherty Valley as 32-year-old Redwood City resident Eissa Kishek.

The solo-vehicle crash occurred around noon after Kishek was spotted driving at high speeds in a BMW M3 westbound amid wet conditions before losing control of the sedan, veering off Bollinger Canyon Road and hitting several roadside trees between Harcourt Way and Watermill Road, according to San Ramon police.

The Redwood City resident was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Preliminary findings indicate speed and wet road conditions were factors in the fatal crash, according to San Ramon police.

“Since the roadways were wet, our investigators don’t have a lot of evidence to determine, or estimate, the speed,” San Ramon police Lt. Denton Carlson said Monday morning.

“We are in the process of trying to recover, and analyze, the vehicle’s engine computer system to get any information regarding the vehicle’s speed prior to the crash,” he added. “We also aren’t yet sure exactly where he was going when the crash took place.”

The incident marked the city’s first traffic fatality of the year.
