U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Eden Isla, of San Ramon, was recognized as Warrior of the Day on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman on Monday.

Sailors who demonstrate superior performance in the line of duty are granted the title, specifically chosen from more than 2,000 sailors assigned to Carrier Air Wing 7 and recognized by the Truman’s commanding officer, Capt. Ryan B. Scholl.

Isla was chosen as Air Wing Warrior of the Day for her outstanding performance while onboard, serving as one of Strike Fighter Squadron’s 117’s pay and personnel clerks, according to Navy officials.

On top of being triple-warfare qualified in surface, air and intelligence, she aided 21 new sailors with their progression to the squadron in the middle of deployment and made certain 14 sailors got back home smoothly to transition to their next command, officials said.

Isla’s favorite things to do onboard are attend church service Sunday nights and spend time with shipmates after a workday on the Truman, Navy officials said. In addition to meeting her goal of becoming a petty officer 2nd class, Isla aspires to become a licensed registered nurse.
